Calder Valley Fell Runners continued their club championships on bank holiday Sunday with the first long race being in the Lake District. Helvellyn and The Dodds traverses in its 15 miles, the summits of Clough Head, Great Dodd, Raise before finally reaching the highest point of Helvellyn where the runners about turn and retrace their steps back to finish at Threlkeld. With favourable conditions Club Chairman Bill Johnson showed his younger team mates a clean pair of heels by taking maximum champs points finishing in 38th place in a time of 2 hours 56 minutes. The race was dominated by local lakes club Borrowdale who took all first 3 race places with the winner Morgan Donnelly finishing in a time of 2 hours 13 minutes almost 5 minutes in front of his team mates. Special mention must go to Graham Davy, Carolyn Shimwell and Charlotte Whetton who undertook this tough race and with lots of encouragement from each other and showing true team camaraderie they all managed to complete the race. A massive well done.
