Midsummer Madness

Unfortunately this race series has come to an end. Held from 2002 to 2015 on midsummer weekend and only £10 for three races:

The number of runners completing all three reached a peak of 49 in 2010.

British international orienteer Nick Barrable won the first series in 2002. James Logue won an impressive total of six series and Jason Williams won twice. Additional overall winners were: Adam Breaks (2003), Karl Gray (2004), Chris Smale (2005), Andy Thorpe (2007) and Joe Crossfield (2013).

Pernille Karsson of Sweden was first woman in the first series. Gayle Sugden won four series and additional female champions were: Anne Johnson (2003), Carole Waterhouse (2004), Jo Smith/Buckley (2005), Sandy Grimes (2006), Jackie Scarf (2007), Holly Page (2008), Tracey Woodyard (2009), Aileen Baldwin (2012) and Tania Brandon (2014).

Junior champions were: Luke Nichols (2007), Joe Crossfield (2008), Peter Walker (2009), Sean Carey (2010) and Edan Whitelaw (2012).

Keith Markley completed every one of the 14 series. Carole Priestley, Les Chesterton and Robert Gregory completed 11 series. John Mason completed 9; and Sandra Long, Philip Jones and John Williams 8. All of those except for Philip Jones (CVFR) and John Williams (Springfield Striders) ran for Leicester Owls and then Wigston Phoenix.
