If you have a love of mud and the great outdoors why not come along to one of our friendly club pack runs. We are a friendly, fun club who have a full spectrum of members including active juniors, thriving ladies as well as many members who run just for pure enjoyment without ever competing. On a Tuesday we caters for mixed abilities of runners. We have a steady group with a leader who will take you out on the fells for a run so whether you’re just getting back after an injury and want to get fit or you want to have a go at the fells feel free to join us. Various groups of different levels of fitness go out and you’ll certainly get to know the local footpaths and fells. Appropriate clothing is advised as it can be cold on them there fells and the best grippy trainers that you’ve got too.
Here’s what some of our newer members had to say …
“Joining the beginners’ group last year has opened up the valleys and expanded my horizons, both in running up hills and the friends I have made along the way – it’s not always easy but it has always been fun.”
“I thought I wouldn’t be fast enough or strong enough to join a fell running club – it wasn’t the case . A brilliant, friendly, caring club. Always happy to wait for those at the back and really encouraging. You are made so welcome so don’t delay and come along and find out for yourself.”
“What a fab find – can’t recommend it enough! It’s a friendly, supportive, fun and welcoming club. Great way to get up and be active with others.”
In the winter we have groups that prefer to don their head torches and go out on the fells in the dark. They have a tarmac phobia. Others without this phobia go out on the local small roads doing a pack run.
We enjoy going for a social pint after the run to find out what’s going on and to get to know like minded people. If you want to ask any questions please email me and I’ll do my best to answer … email@example.com
By the way it’s only £10 which is a bargain at 2019 prices!
So how come it’s so cheap to join?
The club is run for the benefit of it’s members and the profits from the races we organise go back into the club to help pay for everything you get as member. All we ask of you is that you offer to help support the staging of some of our races and turn out for the relays if you’ve said you’d like to run. If you would like to get more involved than we’ve a very active committee so you could seek to be nominated onto this.

IF YOU ONLY WANT TO BE A MEMBER OF CVFR AND RUN ON THE FELLS IGNORE THE NEXT SENTENCE.
Please note as we affiliate to England Athletics for fell running only you can join another club as your First Claim Other Disciplines club for any other disciplines such as road, x country or track. CVFR must be your first claim club. You are allowed to be a team counter for both us as your first claim club (for all fell races that are listed and permitted under the FRA) and also your First Claim Other Disciplines claim for all other disciplines (road, cross country, track etc). If you are already a member of another athletics club who offers fell as a discipline you will have to resign from that club, submit a Change of Club form. Clearance to make us your new first claim club usually takes around 4 weeks from submission of your COC form. When this has happened you can rejoin your other disciplines club to run all disciplines other than fell. Sorry but this the only way that this can be done. Your EA fee would have to be paid by us at CVFR and not by your other disciplines club.
Why not come along?
Contact Bob here to come down and meet us, and for any other information. Don’t be scared to get in touch and come and have a go. You’ll be surprised at how much you’ll enjoy it.
