2017 will see the second running of this new race that takes in the superb private estate of Castle Carr as well as much of Midgley Moor.
AL- 24km (15miles) / 1220m (4000′)
Sunday 3rd Sep 2017
Main start: 11am (early start available at 10:30am for slower runners.)
Parking is limited, so PLEASE EITHER COME BY TRAIN (just over a mile [uphill] from Hebden Bridge station to race registration) or CAR SHARE.
Registration will open at 9am.
There is an early start at 10:30 for runners who would expect to be in the last 20% of the field. That’s so that you can get back to the pub earlier, and have a bit more leeway for the 2pm timeout at CP7. No-one was close to being timed out last year – its a generous timeout.
Don’t join the early start if you are not one of the slower runners – if you do, you may get to a checkpoint before the marshal and have to wait for them to arrive before you can dib in!
The main start is at 11am.

|What shall I carry?||You must carry:
Bring your kit to registration because it will be checked there.
|Route Notes||The route will mostly be unflagged. You must be able to find your way between the checkpoints.
The race goes through the private estate of Castle Carr. Please do not go through the out-of-bounds area shown on the recce map before race day. The route through the estate will be well flagged for the race.
There will be organised recces of the race route on Sunday July 16th and Aug 20th. Check the race Facebook page for details (link above)
|Route Map||The race route goes across the Castle Carr estate to checkpoint 1, then does a complete anticlockwise circuit around the estate and moors. Once the full circuit is done (checkpoint 9), retrace your steps across the estate to the finish.Apart from through the private estate, the route shown in yellow on the map is not mandatory. On the moor you will need to decide on your best route. Off the moor the best route is almost certainly the route shown in yellow. In any event do not trespass. Do not climb walls or fences.The route will mostly not be flagged. You must be able to find your way between the checkpoints.Hint: the route shown onto the moor from the start is not mandatory. There are several stiles that may cause bottlenecks. If you do not want to queue at the stiles, carry on on the track to come onto the moor slightly further northwest (as the old Tom Tittiman race used to go).
