Castle Carr

2022 will see the sixth running of this tough race that takes in the superb private estate of Castle Carr as well as Midgley Moor, Warley Moor and Wadsworth Moor

What shall
I carry?
The race is licensed by the FRA under UKA rules. FRA mandatory minimum kit is compulsory. You must carry:

  • waterproof whole body cover with hood and taped seams
  • hat or buff
  • gloves
  • map of the route, suitable for navigating with
  • a proper compass (not out of a Christmas cracker!)
  • whistle
  • emergency food

Bring your kit to registration because it will be checked there.

Route General The race route goes through the Castle Carr estate to checkpoint 1 and then does an anticlockwise tour of the moors around the estate.
Once the circuit is done, you must head back through the estate to the finish. The route will be flagged through the private Castle Carr estate, but apart from that will only be flagged at a few key points.

NB: there is a timeout at CP7. If you arrive there after 2pm you must check in with the marshal there, retire and make your own way back to the start/finish.
