Summer Series Rules
This is based around a selection of short runs taking place during the summer months. As well as being on quick courses, this is also going to be a quick series, with not long to wait from the start of the series to learning the results at the end.
Mainly these are short local races through the months of July and August.
Your best 4 results count towards your final score, but you do get an opportunity for bonus points by completing more races.
The first CVFR finisher at any event will get 100 points, the next will get 99 points and so on. For each extra race you complete, you will get an extra 5 points.
Prizes are available to the first man and first lady in this competition.
Club vests must be worn when competing, there will be a 10 point penalty for any race where you are reported as not wearing a vest. This enables everyone to see against whom they are competing.
That’s So Hebden Bridge (BM)
|This is a tough but accessible first fell race, popular with our back to the fells runners and experienced runners alike. This race sets off our summer series with a 6.5mile, fully flagged, run to Stoodley Pike and back.|
|Fell race that goes past the famous Bridestone and takes in some of the lesser used paths in the upper Calder Valley. A short fast race with steep climbs, fast tracks and demon descents, something for everyone.|
Cragg Vale (BS)
|This event, put on by the residents of the village, is based from Cragg Vale Church.
Run over local terrain you will already know most of this route. Beer and Butties are served up in the church afterwards.
Just don’t forgot your midge repellent for the finish line.
|Tuesday night in July
Club Handicap – Date TBC
|This members only race sees you pitted against your own ability. With calculated start times the winner on the night will be whoever pulls enough extra out of the bag. However your elapsed time on the night will also go towards summer series points.
Bring some beer money for the pub after, where a great spread of sandwiches are laid on.
Golf Ball (BS)
|Named after the Golf Ball weather radar, that may or may not be visible through the mist. This race has a mix of hard packed and boggy routes, and plenty of climbing for a short race, you will be glad to get back to The Glory pub afterwards.|
Blackshaw Head Fete (BS)
|All profits will be donated to local charities.
Entry on the day (£4) plus a donation to enter the fete field. No pre-entry. Entry limit 150.
