Most of the race is unmarked and gives the chance to gain time by choosing the best route between checkpoints. The route varies from year to year - checkpoint locations will be revealed on morning of race, when runners will get a map. The checkpoints are obvious and marshalled and the navigation is not complicated.

Note: this year there will no checkpoint cutoff times.

Runners must be over 18 in the senior race and possess navigational skills (ability to use map and compass). There are junior races for all ages from 6 to 17 (see link to junior races).

Compass and whistle must be carried. You will be given a map of the route when you register, which you'll need to carry with you.

A notice will be put up at registration to say whether you need to carry full waterproofs or windproofs. YOU MUST BRING THEM WITH YOU TO THE RACE IN CASE THEY ARE REQUIRED.

Saturday evening entertainment

On the evening of the race there will be a ceilidh in the Wadsworth Old Town Community Centre (400yds from the race registration, HX7 8RY / SE002283) to celebrate the weekend of fellrunning - everyone is invited. We hope you can come and make it a great occasion.
